Meta titles and descriptions

The meta title and meta description are the two lines a search engine shows for your page. They are the first copy most visitors ever read.

What they do#

The meta title is the clickable headline in search results and the label on the browser tab. The meta description is the short paragraph underneath. Neither directly changes your ranking much, but both change whether people click, and a page that earns more clicks for the same position wins over time.

Writing good ones#

  • Keep titles under roughly 60 characters so they are not cut off, and put the distinctive words first.
  • Give every page its own title. Twenty pages named "Home" help nobody.
  • Keep descriptions around 150 characters and write them as an honest pitch for the page, not a keyword list.
  • Match the words your customers actually use, not internal product names.

How Weblooks helps#

The metadata scan checks every page for a missing, duplicated, too-long, or too-short title and description, so the problem list is per page rather than a vague "improve your SEO". Titles and descriptions can be edited from the canvas, and on connected projects the fix ships as a pull request or a CMS write.
