Weblooks

Canvas and inspection

Add a favicon and app icon

Give your site a browser-tab icon and an iOS home-screen icon from one upload. Weblooks generates the right sizes and links them on every page.

What you need#

One square image (PNG, SVG, JPEG, or WebP). At least 180×180 pixels so the Apple touch icon renders sharp; 512×512 is ideal and leaves headroom for future formats. Transparent backgrounds are fine: the home-screen icon is automatically flattened onto white, because iOS would otherwise composite it onto black.

You do not need to prepare a .ico file or multiple sizes. That conversion is exactly what Weblooks does for you.

Adding the icon#

Open your project, switch to the Metadata panel, and find the Icons section. Upload your image: Weblooks generates the favicon and the Apple touch icon, stores them under assets/icons/, and writes the <link rel="icon"> and <link rel="apple-touch-icon"> tags on every page of the site in one step. The panel reports how many pages were updated and whether an older icon was replaced.

To change the icon later, upload a new image the same way. To remove it from all pages, use Remove in the same section.

How it is checked#

The Metadata scan warns when a site has no favicon, notes a missing Apple touch icon, and flags icon links that point at files which do not exist. The favicon also counts toward the coverage score at the top of the Metadata panel, so a missing icon is visible before launch.
